A stamp of disapproval for online passport renewal system

IT is commendable that the Immigration Department introduced the online passport renewal system to ease the congestion and long queues at its passport counters.

However, to me, it seems that the department is not encouraging people to use this online system.

This is because when I accessed the system, I was not allowed to proceed as my thumbprint was either “rosak” or not in the system. This is not my fault.

It should have allowed my application to proceed.

When I come to collect the passport, Immigration officers can ask for proof of identity, such as my old passport, MyKad and payment receipt.

If the thumbprint is missing in the system, this can be remedied there and then. Is this not a better solution than barring the applicant from applying online?
