Man and his two kids found murdered in Segambut apartment

KUALA LUMPUR: A father and his two children were found dead in their rented apartment unit in Taman Sri Sinar, Segambut about noon today.

Police believe that the 36-year-old man and his children - a girl aged three, as well as a seven-month-old boy - were murdered.

Investigators have yet to ascertain the victims' cause of deaths as there was no injuries nor signs of a break-in found at the scene.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy said the father's body was found on a mattress inside the apartment's master bedroom, while the children's bodies were stuffed inside two plastic containers in another bedroom.

The adult victim was identified as Cheah Heng Soon. He was said to be unemployed.

"Police received a report from the man's wife about 12.15pm today, saying that she found her husband and the bodies of their two children.

"The woman, who was separated from the husband, told police that she made the discovery when she went to the house to see the children.

"Following the report, a team of police investigators and the Forensic Unit were dispatched to the scene.

"Based on initial checks, police believe the victims had died three days ago," he told reporters at the scene.

Munusamy said a post-mortem will be conducted on the victims' remains at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital to pinpoint the cause of death.

He said police have also brought the victim's wife, aged 35, to the police station for questioning as they found some irregularities in her earlier statement.

The case has been classified as murder.
