BERLIN: Satellite Pipeline Sdn Bhd has tied up with German pipe machine leader AWS Schäfer Technologie GmbH to start a steel and pipe heat induction bending workshop in Pahang.
Both parties signed an agreement, here, yesterday, witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The long-term technical joint-venture agreement marks the first of many joint-venture initiatives by Satellite Pipeline and its group of companies to transform Kuantan into a world leading pipeline and steel industry hub, said its managing director Abdullah Osman.
The company, he said, plans to bring in the latest technology and is going through various certification processes during the low business activity.
“Satellite Pipeline expects to start a steel and pipe heat induction bending workshop by the end of next year.”
It will go through various certification audits once completed.
AWS Schäfer, which will be a significant shareholder in the venture, was represented at the signing by its chief executive officer Hubertus Engels.
AWS Schäfer has been in the pipe-forming and pipe-manufacturing machine business for more than 50 years. The family-owned firm, now in its third generation, supplies machines to customers worldwide in the oil and gas industry, power plant construction, the container and pipeline business, the automotive sector and the petrochemical industry.
