From clothes to shoes and bags, Longchamp’s new collection finds influences in flora and fauna, writes Meera Murugesan
FOR the woman who loves to transform herself, here’s a collection inspired by the colours, patterns and textures of nature.
Longchamp’s Autumn 2016 Collection shows inspirations for clothing and accessories drawn from vegetal, mineral and animal influences to give the modern urban woman looks that are feminine and very appealing.
A colour palette of fawn, graphite and other natural tones are enhanced with bright accents in the collection, reminiscent of a tamed urban jungle that springs to life in a wild metamorphosis.
Shades that bring to mind the tree-bark or slate grey and bold animal prints also vividly capture the call of the wild that sets the tone for this collection.
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
The ready-to-wear attire in this collection is dedicated to the multi-faceted woman and presents a sophisticated yet totally feminine wardrobe that includes refined coats, zipped jackets and A-line skirts.
Nature-inspired influences have been beautifully worked into all pieces to create looks that are trendy, seamless and elegant.
The chevron motif has also been reimagined in a zebra print and applied to styles throughout the collection, including a sleek coat, short zipped jacket and trapeze skirt, offering a unique take on the traditional animal print.
Given Longchamp’s long history with leather, the material has been creatively used in this collection as well.
Cleverly worked skirts, dresses and coats in velvet lambskin, for example, are eye-catching and trendy and would certainly appeal to the young and young-at-heart.
Coats and jackets in lambskin leather trimmed with rabbit fur come across as trendy and luxurious while printed coats in calfskin fur and dresses and skirts in velvet lambskin leather are both unique and eye-catching.
For the evening, rhinestone embellished velvet cocktail dresses and flowing blouses with transparent delicate silk sleeves make a bold statement.
The animal/nature theme is also carried forward into shoes and bags with bold, fashion-forward designs showing off a multitude of prints and textures.
Ankle boots in printed calf fur for example, show off striking animal and jungle inspired prints while still managing to retain a sense of elegance and sophistication.
In fact, boots are the star of the shoe collection this season, with multiple options available, from flat to high heeled, quirky and offbeat, to stylish and elegant.
Trendy handbags in calf fur trimmed with smooth calfskin leather and coming in a variety of designs go well with the footwear and clothing.
MULTIPLE LOOKS
Transformability is also one of the hallmarks of the collection and this comes through beautifully in reversible clothes and accessories which enable women to create very different looks with just one or two items.
Trendy reversible coats in lambskin leather or in rabbit fur and cotton, for example, give more choices to the sophisticated woman and allow her to instantly update or change her style.
These pieces ensure that every woman can make a style statement and easily change her look to suit her needs.
