Electro music group Major Lazer makes a splash with new single, Cold Water

IT’S a small wonder that Cold Water, a new song by Major Lazer, has become another big hit for the American electronic music group.

Containing dancehall and Euro club elements, the song has a hook-heavy pop influence with acoustic guitars that screams earworm!

Featuring vocals from Canadian pop sensation and sometime enfant terrible Justin Bieber with Danish singer Mø, the track has hit the number one spot on various charts including in the UK, Australia and Canada.

The mid-tempo tune, which dropped two months ago, debuted at Number Two on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Touted as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Music Is The Weapon, the lyrics to the song is based on an actual tragic event that involved a girl that jumped overboard during their Mad Decent Boat Party.

The group, made up of record producer Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire, have said in an interview that the new album will have a varied mix of pop, dance, club and underground influences.

According to them, Music Is The Weapon will probably be released next year in January.

Fans can expect more singles to drop before the year is over.

The other albums that Major Lazer have released include Guns Don’t Kill People... Lazers Do (2009), Free The Universe (2013) and Peace Is the Mission (2015).
