Clerk walks non-stop for 59 hours, breaking his own Msian Book of Record feat

KLANG: A logistics company clerk created his third Malaysian Book of Records for the Longest Non-Stop Walk this evening, breaking his two previous two records for the same feat.

Muhammad Adam Prakash Ardae had finished 79 laps at the Botanical Garden jogging track for 59 hours covering 379.2 kilometres.

In the feat initiated by the Kota Raja division of the Indian Progressive Front (IPF), the 44-year-old father of two was flagged off at 8.55am on Oct 1 .

He completed the feat at 7.55pm today where he was greeted by more than 50 supporters. Fireworks were lit to celebrate the success.

His feat was certified by MBR senior research journalist Nurasyikin Ramli.

Adam Prakash had in 2011 created a record in the same category for walking non-stop from Klang to Ipoh, Perak for 48-hours, covering 324 kilometres.

He entered the MBR with his first record in the same category in 2009 for walking 270 kilometres non-stop from Klang to Gopeng, Perak for 48-hours.

Adam Prakash, who dedicated his feat to Malaysia's 59th Independence, described the walk this time as much more pleasant than the previous two as he was surrounded by greens and the temperature was much cooler, especially after 3am.

He chose to walk with one pair of slippers throughout as he was more comfortable in it than sports shoes.

"I had to have a strong mind and be focused because I was basically walking around the same place for 79 laps. I also needed to pace myself whenever I needed some rest and going fast to make up for time.

"The Botanical Garden here is safe and secure. The reason why I chose to carry out the feat here was because people could come and see me complete it. Many people came to cheer me on and wanted to take selfies with me and that motivated me tremendously.

"Although I was severely tired and had no sleep but all I had in my mind was to break my own two records and create a new one," he said.

He soldiered on despite sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident a week earlier.

As he walked non-stop, Adam Prakash only had light food such as cakes, banana, watermelon, water and juices.

He was occassionally accompanied by several of his supporters, who also assisted with lighting the jogging tracks after 1am when the lamps were turned off.

Adam Prakash, who said he has no severe injuries except for blisters in his inner thighs, will be taking three days of leave to rest.

"What I am most looking forward to doing now is to go home, have a good bath and sleep."
