Fakhrulrazi cracks his own 10,000m record at IPT

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Putra Malaysia's (UPM) Fakhrulrazi Jailani clocked 47:55.45 to break his own men's 10,000m walk record in the Institution of Higher Learning (IPT) Athletics Grand Finals at the Arena Stadium of Universiti Malaya today.

His old record of 48:59.25 was set at the third IPT in Tanjong Malim in September.

UPSI's Sriven Tan, who featured in the Phnom Penh Sea Games in May, clocked 51:44.71 for silver while UPSI's Ammar Rafi took bronze (54:00.91).

Fakhrulrazi, who was seventh in the 20km walk race in the Phnom Penh Sea Games, said: "Winning gold and breaking my own IPT record has boosted my confidence that I can clock a better time next year."

UPM's Anas Ariffin broke the men's 1,500m meet record by clocking 4:05.17. The previous mark of 4:05.23 was set by UTM's Amirul Arif Azri last year.

This time, Amirul Arif clocked 4:06.89 for silver while UITM's Zaiyusri Zainon bagged bronze (4:10.67).

Unimap's Faris Kamarzaman won the men's 200m (21.73) while UiTM's Aqil Yasmin (22.03) and Sunway's Ryan Wong (22.08) bagged the silver and bronze respectively.

UMS's Chelsea Cassiopea Evali Bopulas clinched the women's 200m title by clocking 25.44. Unimas' Evelyne Tan (27.72) and UPM's Nur Athirah Khairul (27.75) settled for silver and bronze respectively.

UPSI's Syakir Daniel Fauz clocked 48.26 to clinch the men's 400m gold. UPSI's Amar Hussaimee Majali took the silver (49.94) while UPM's Firdaus Mohamed bagged bronze (50.46).
