Gerakan urges Guan Eng to seek advice from Rahman Dahlan

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan today suggested that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng seek advice from Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan on how to manage the state.

Gerakan secretary-general Datuk Liang Teck Meng offered the suggestion following allegedly poor management of the state's income by the DAP-led government.

"Rahman is in charge of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and so he is the best person for Lim to talk to. Otherwise, he (Lim) can ask for advice from Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua as Pua had studied economics before," he said.

He said, although its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is high, but the growth rate of the state is low at 44.5 per cent in 2015 compared to Kelantan which is at 73.9 per cent.

"According to Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) statistics, Penang's investment performance has dropped from the top spot to fifth from 2010 to 2015," Liang told reporters at the Gerakan headquarters here today.

Liang also warned Lim to not blame the federal government for their own mistakes as Putrajaya had allocated them RM1.2 billion in 2007, RM1.4 billion in 2008 and RM5.7 billion last year.
