(Football) BJSS edge past Selangor in U-19 Youth Cup final 1st leg

SELAYANG: Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) took the first leg spoils of the Under-19 Youth Cup football final against defending champions Selangor with a 1-0 win at the Selayang Stadium on Sunday.

Zafuan Azeman broke the deadlock 20 minutes from time when firing in at the second attempt after his initial shot had been blocked by Selangor defenders.

The goal, his eighth of the competition, spared Zafuan's blushes as minutes earlier he squandered a great chance when through on goal only for his control of the ball to fail him, pushing it to close to Selangor goalkeeper Aqil Fadhly Yusop.

Selangor substitute Nor Aiman Mazlan should have equalised in the 74th minute but his close-range header was just over the crossbar.

BJSS are 90 minutes away from regaining the Youth Cup which they won for the only time in 2007 when they host the second leg at the Universiti Malaya Arena on Oct 23.

Selangor are seeking to become the first team to retain the trophy after the tournament was rebranded as the Youth Cup in 2004.
