Python mud pit fallout: APM school training modules to be revised

KUALA KANGSAR: All team-building training modules for primary school pupils organised by the Civil Defence Department (APM) will be reviewed and revised.

"We will discuss this matter further with the Ministry of Education," said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, during a press conference after meeting with pupils, parents and teachers involved in the mud pit snake incident at SK Beluru Kuala Kangsar curriculum camp here today.

Shahidan suggested that it would be advisable for the related agency to train teachers in how to carry out modules.

"The teachers would then train their students (in team or self-building)," he said, adding that it would, however, be a daunting task for teachers.

He stressed that no decision will be made until after discussions are held with all stakeholders.

Shahidan’s comments come in the wake of a team-building training exercise in which terrified young girls were made to wade into a mud-filled pit into which two blood pythons had been tossed. The incident was caught on video, which went viral on social media and raised the ire of netizens.
