Budget 2017: All excited over 'nasi lemak anak dara'

KUALA LUMPUR: Members of Parliament got slightly excited when there was a mention of "nasi lemak anak dara" during the tabling of Budget 2017 today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak highlighted the efforts of an enterprising youth, a female graduate from Shah Alam, to earn a living from selling nasi lemak.

"It is a pity that she was issued with a summon in doing so," he said to a mixture of cheers and loud sighs from other fellow MPs.

As the din in the House rose, Parliament speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia intervened to remind the MPs to quieten down.

You (MPs) are not the only ones who are listening to the Budget speech as others also need to hear it," he said.

Najib said hopefully the female trader would succeed in her business.
