KUALA LUMPUR: The government will increase the allowance of community leaders such as village heads from RM800 to RM900, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said the government recognised the role of community leaders such as village heads in creating harmony and a prosperous society.
"Therefore, the government agrees to increase the allowance of village heads, chairmen of Village Development and Security Committees, including heads of New Villages and Orang Asli from RM800 to RM900," he said.
Najib was speaking during his 2017 Budge speech at Parliament.
