PUTRAJAYA: Managers and assistants at digital economy centres (PEDi) nationwide will get higher allowances in recognition of their vital role in reducing the digital gap in the country.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said PEDi managers would receive an increased monthly allowance from RM2,000 to RM2,500, and assistants from RM1,500 to RM2,000 starting from next year.
He said PEDi was a crucial strategy in digitalisation and its direction must consider going the extra mile in reaching more people in the rural areas.
"I want PEDi to be monitored for it to submit reports so that it can reach larger targets, including children and students, while also introducing some apps," he said at the launch of the Economy Digital Centres (PEDi) conference MADANI 2023 here today.
