(Motorcycling) Adam Norrodin stoked over Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix performance

KUALA LUMPUR: Rookie Adam Norrodin notched his second points finish in consecutive weeks at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix today, as both Khairul Idham Pawi and Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah crashed out.

Adam, who qualified 22nd yesterday, came in 11th in a tricky Moto3 race which was red-flagged due to multiple crashes at the Phillip Island circuit.

The Drive M7 SIC Racing team rider, who finished 12th at Motegi last week, crossed the line 10.447 seconds behind race winner Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who clocked 16:22.009 seconds.

Khairul (Honda Team Asia) was among the unlucky ones, crashing out in only the first lap of the race.

Adam, who has largely struggled to make an impact this season, said his performances have made him eager to do well at the Malaysian round at Sepang next week.

He went as far as sixth in the race, but dropped back to 18th after being forced wide before fighting his way back up to 11th.

"This is the best feeling! I am so happy with this result today, especially after qualifying so far back on the grid," said the 18-year-old.

"I am so happy to come away with more points and go to my home GP (Sepang) on a positive note.

"We never expected to do so well here at a circuit that I have never been to before, so this is a great result for us all," he said.

Hafizh (Petronas Raceline) failed to complete a single lap in the Moto2 race, which also saw a number of crashes, as he was wiped out by Remy Gardner (Tasca Racing Scuderia) not long after the start.

The 22 year-old could not hide his disappointment.

"There was nothing I could do as it (the crash) was so sudden, luck was just not on my side today," said Hafizh.

Wildcard Ramdan Rosli (Petronas AHM) came in last out of the 18 riders that finished the race.
