4 caught in drug busts, meth and syabu worth RM26,700 seized

BESUT: Police have arrested four men and seized drugs worth RM26,700 after raiding two separate locations in Besut on Wednesday and Saturday.

Besut police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said in the first raid, two suspects were detained at a premise in Jalan Alor Lintang at 8.30am on Wednesday.

He said, in the first raid, the narcotics division team found the first suspect, aged 22, on the bed in one of the rooms. The officers later found 1,378 pills believed to be methamphetamine, worth RM13,000.

A second suspect, aged 36, was also detained after he returned to the house.

“My men seized two cars, a Proton Perdana and a Honda Civic, and a Honda EX5 motorcycle, which belongs to both suspects,” he told reporters at the Besut police station, yesterday.

Zamri said both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

“The first suspect has four previous records for drug offences,” he said, adding that both individuals are being remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence.

In the second raid on Saturday, two men, also aged 22 and 36, were detained in a raid at a house in Kampung Awek here at 6pm.

Zamri said police found 301 pills believed to be of illegal substances and 15 packets of syabu worth RM13,700.

“Both suspects were taken to the Besut police station for further investigations,” he added.
