Confrontation gets ugly between wronged husbands and two men when revolver is brandished

ALOR STAR: Police have arrested two employees of a government-linked company for trying to intimidate two other men with a revolver.

Kedah Criminal Investigation Department Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nashir Ya said one of the suspects had a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver with five bullets.

The suspects were brought in to the Kepala Batas Police Station yesterday.

Nashir said that the suspects, who were attached to the regulation division of a government-linked company in Kangar, were believed to have been involved in a quarrel with another two men on Sunday.

The men claimed that the two suspects had taken their wives out for several days without their knowledge and consent.

“The husbands of the two women managed to track down the suspects in front of a restaurant on Jalan Sultanah Bahiyah on Sunday,” said Nashir.

A quarrel ensued, after which one of the suspects brandished a revolver and pointed it at the husbands of the women.

“Members of the public who witnessed the incident then stepped in to help the women and their husbands.

“We are in the process of verifying who owns the revolver. Meanwhile the suspects, believed to be between 33 and 36 years old, are being remanded until October 27,” said Nashir.

Nashir added that the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation which carries for a maximum two years’ jail.
