#NSTviral: Confrontation between two groups of transgender women turns violent, leading to arrests [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Chaos erupted early this morning outside a hotel in Bangkok when a confrontation occurred between two groups of transgender women from Thailand and the Philippines.

The incident, which took place on Sukhumvit Soi 11, later went viral on social media, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police rushed to the scene shortly after receiving reports alleging that 20 Filipino transgender women had attacked and robbed a Thai transgender woman.

The situation escalated further as more Thai transgender women gathered at the scene after receiving information about the attack on social media.

Police attempted to diffuse the situation, but it quickly turned chaotic as the Thai group began hurling bottles at the newly arrived Filipino group.

Authorities struggled to contain the escalating violence as the Thai group began dragging the Filipino group out in front of the hotel and continued with the attack.

Police eventually managed to break up the brawl and arrested both groups of attackers and the victim, taking them to Lumpini Police Station.

According to The Nation, Lumphini station chief Pol. Col. Yingyos Suwanno said officers were dispatched to the location to stop the fight, ensure public safety, and invite all parties to an interview at the station.

Investigators are interviewing the two groups as well as witnesses to determine how the fight started. They will also check the travel documents of non-Thais to ensure that no immigration laws have been broken.

The actual number of those arrested and their current condition are unknown as of press time.
