Upset man torches home, destroys five other houses in process

IPOH: Six houses in Taman Kuan Woh Yuen, Jalan Bendahara here perished in a fire this afternoon after a man allegedly set ablaze his rented home following an argument with his wife.

Police are now looking for the suspect who has since fled the area.

In the 5.30pm incident, Harian Metro reported that the houseowner, identified as Miss Lim, was alerted by the suspect's wife of his intention to torch the rented unit.

"I was shocked when his wife said her husband wanted to burn down the house and asked me to come over immediately.

"I told her to alert the police as I rushed over. Upon arrival, I saw the house already engulfed by fire," she told the Malay tabloid.

It is learnt that nobody was injured in the incident and firemen prevented the flames from spreading further.

The suspect's wife and her three children later went to the Pasir Puteh police station to lodge a police report.

Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong confirmed the incident.
