ALOR STAR: Eleven men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were ordered to be detained under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) 1959 by the magistrate’s court here today in connection with secret society activities.
The detention order was issued by Magistrate Mohd Khairul Hafizuddin Ramli under Section 4(1) (a) Poca 1959 following an appeal by deputy public prosecutor Norsyuhada Mohd Yatim in a closed proceeding.
Norsyuhada, when met outside the court after the proceeding, said the 21-day remand order issued under the Act takes effect today.
The suspects, clad in lock-up attire, were brought to the court complex at 10am.
