(Badminton) Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing undaunted by recent setbacks, all set for Bitburger Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Two early exits are more than enough for mixed doubles Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing.

The second-ranked Malaysian mixed doubles suffered two early defeats at the recent Denmark and French Opens, and are hoping to bounce back stronger at the Bitburger Open that gets underway on Tuesday.

After reaching six finals and winning two titles (Vietnam and Thailand Opens) this year, Kian Meng-Pei Jing are certain that the recent Super Series have earned them some valuable experience.

Pei Jing, when contacted in Paris, joked: "It gets really boring when you lose so early in a tournament because you don't know what to do and become too free.

"But on a serious note, Kian Meng and I have learned a lot from the last two Super Series. We don't have a choice but to find a way to adapt ourselves to the fast-paced game.

"I'm quite sure that we will be playing in more Super Series next year, so we have to catch up quick," she said.

The fourth-seeded Malaysians will open their campaign on Wednesday against Taiwan's Wang Chi Lin-Chiang Kai Hsin.

Also hoping to come good in Saarbrucken are men's doubles Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi.

Following their maiden Super Series in Paris, the Malaysian duo are hoping to end the year on a high.

The odds, however, are stacked against them, as they are up against second-seeds Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in the first round.
