FOR owners Mohammad Nizam Md Omar and Muhamad Iqbal Hibri Azilan, the decision to use Shell Advance motorcycle engine oil have paid off handsomely.

They won the two Grand Prizes in the 2016 Shell Advance Power On contest recently and with it, a trip to Japan.

The highlight of the all-expense trip this month was the Japan MotoGP and the fifth round of this season’s Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup (SAATC) motorcycle racing championship at the famous Twin Ring Motegi racetrack.

Technician Mohammad Nizam, who bought the Shell Advance AX5 motorcycle engine oil for his 125cc Honda Future due to its long-lasting performance, was elated by his first-ever major contest win.

“It was my first trip to Japan and the highlight was certainly the visit to the Twin Ring Motegi racetrack. The special VIP pass arranged for us by Shell allowed us to explore nearly all areas of the track during the Japan MotoGP race,” he said.

Fellow grand prize winner Muhamad Iqbal, a Kawasaki GTR 1400 owner, was all praise for the VIP treatment accorded to the winners throughout the five-day four-night trip.

“Thanks to Shell, we were able to experience the excitement of MotoGP on another level, which we would never have been able to do on our own. The win aside, I am also very happy with my decision to use Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology. There is a real difference on my bike as the engine is now quiet, more powerful and more economical,” said the IT analyst.

Consolation prize winners received GIVI merchandise that included 10 Monolock boxes, 20 units of full-face helmets, 30 units of rainsuits and 50 units of backpacks.

The contest required participants to buy selected Shell Advance products and apply the stickers that came with the purchase as creatively as possible on their motorcycles. They had to then snap a photo of the finished work of art, caption and upload it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #PowerOnShellAdvance.

Shell Lubricants general manager for Malaysia and Singapore Leslie Ng said the prizes were to reward loyal and passionate bikers who relied on Shell Advance to get the most out of every ride.

“At Shell, we also reward loyal trade partners who have worked hard to make Shell Advance the preferred motorcycle engine oil in Malaysia. This is why the Japan trip also included 10 workshop owners.”

For owner of Perniagaan Motor Hok Hing in Kepong, Lim Chiew Poh, watching the Japan MotoGP from the Shell VIP suite was the most memorable experience of his maiden trip to Japan.

“I have been selling Shell Advance since 1988 at a time when it came in a tin can. It is a household brand name and easy to sell. I am glad I was among those selected for this amazing trip,” he said.

Fellow trade winner Koh Wong Hean of Chaw Wei Motor in Kuala Selangor found the trip insightful.
