Geng 36 members detained after mass brawl in Perak

IPOH: Police have detained 12 men affiliated with Geng 36 in Chemor here on Monday and Tuesday following a brawl.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Gan Tian Kee said the brawl occurred at Kampung Pisang, Chemor. Seven people sustained minor injuries in the fight.

Gan said initial investigation showed that the brawl was triggered by a territorial dispute.

"During the raids, we also seized various sharp weapons such as kerambit and swords.

"Three of the gang members had previous criminal records related to voluntarily causing hurt, trespassing, and violation of restraining orders," he said.

Gan was speaking at a press conference at state police contingent headquarters here today.

"The gang members, aged between 21 and 36, have been remanded for four days to assist our investigation," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of Penal Code for rioting.
