BINTULU: A fishing vessel was partially destroyed after it caught fire this morning.
No one was injured in the 8am incident near Kemena Industrial Area here.
It was learnt that the vessel was undergoing maintenance works when its top deck was gutted by fire.
The incident went viral on the social media platforms, compelling the Fire and Rescue Department to deploy a team although no distress call was made.
A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the blaze was under control as several workers at the area took the initiatives to stop the fire from spreading to the entire machine.
“Checks showed 60 per cent of the structure of the fishing vessel has been destroyed.” said the spokesman.
