(Motorsports) Hafizh Syahrin forced to sit out Valencia practice

KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah’s target of finishing the year on a high suffered an early setback today due to food poisoning. He was forced to miss both Moto2 practice sessions on the opening day of the season-ending Valencia Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Petronas Raceline said in a statement that Hafizh has been administered antibiotics and probiotics by doctors, who also ran various tests including an ultrasound scan.

Nothing serious was detected but the rider was advised to rest today before undergoing more check-ups. It is unknown whether he will be able to compete in tomorrow’s qualifying.

In Moto3, rookie duo Adam Norrodin (Drive M7 SIC Racing team) and Khairul Idham Pawi (Honda Team Asia) were well off the pace, finishing the second practice session in 29th (1:40.672s) and 32nd (1:41.355s) respectively.
