(Moto3) Tough qualifying for Khairul, Adam at Valencia

KUALA LUMPUR: Moto3 rookies Khairul Idham Pawi and Adam Norrodin will have to fight hard if they hope to finish in the points at the season ending Valencia Motorcycle Grand Prix after a lacklustre showing in qualifying today.

Khairul (Honda Team Asia), who will be moving up to Moto2 next year, will line up in 25th place for tomorrow's race after clocking one minute and 40.163s.

His teamate Hiroki Ono, however, was in fine form, securing a front row start after notching 1:39.383s to place third.

Adam, who will remain in Moto3 with Drive M7 SIC Racing next year, fared no better than Khairul as his 1:40.957s was only good for 30th.

SIC teamate Jakub Korfeil, who finished second at Sepang a fortnight ago, qualified 24th on 1:39.997s. The race will be Kornfeil's last for SIC as he will be moving to Peugeot Saxoprint next season.

In Moto2, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah, who missed both practice sessions due to food poisoning yesterday, managed 23rd (1:36.642s) in the final practice today despite yet to fully recover from the illness.

Qualifying for Moto2 will be held later today.
