BAGAN SERAI: A man became the centre of a bizarre scene today when he apparently slit his own throat in the middle of a supermarket here.
The man, whose identity is still unknown, had walked into the wet goods area of the supermarket around 3.20pm, produced a knife and ran it across his neck.
Injured and rapidly losing blood, the man staggered out of the shop before collapsing at its entrance.
Kerian district police chief Superintendent Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said the man was rushed to the Parit Buntar Hospital before being referred to the Taiping Hospital due to severe injury to his respiratory tract.
“Police are still investigating the cause of the incident. We have yet to determine his identity,” he said.
