(Badminton) Chong Wei, V Shem and Wee Kiong make cut for World Super Series Finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite missing two of the last Super Series - the China and Hong Kong Opens - Lee Chong Wei still made the cut for the World Super Series Finals in Dubai on Dec 14-18.

The Finals will showcase the best eight players or pairs (all categories) who have done well throughtout the year from a total of 12 Super Series.

Following his withdrawal from both mentioned competitions due to injury, Chong Wei still managed a seventh place finish on the finalised list, which was released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Tuesday.

Also making the list is Rio Olympic Games gold medallist Chen Long of China, who was awarded a wildcard for his feat in Brazil in Aug.

Denmark's Jan Jorgensen topped the men's singles list, followed by South Korea's Son Wan Ho, China's Tian Houwei, Hong Kong's Angus Ng Ka Long and Jorgensen's teammate Viktor Axelsen.

Malaysia, which did not have a single representative in last year's edition, will this time around also make a play for the men's doubles title through World No 1 Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong.
