KKB by-election: PN yet to unveil its manifesto

HULU SELANGOR: Despite Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Pang Sock Tao unveiling her manifesto last night, it remains uncertain whether her opponent from Perikatan Nasional (PN) Khairul Azhari Saut, will present his.

PN deputy president Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu hinted that the coalition will unveil a manifesto for the constituency when the time is right.

"We will announce it before polling day, when the time comes.

"As of now, our offer for the people in Kuala Kubu Baharu is a qualified and capable local candidate who understands local issues," he said at a press conference after the launch of Wanita Gempur PN in Batang Kali today.

When pressed further about the details of the manifesto, Faizal declined to comment, citing confidentiality.

"We (those contesting in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election) have our own strategy, as does PN for its candidate.

"For PH candidate, her strategy is to wear a headscarf when entering Malay villages. That is their strategy.

"On the other hand, we also have our own strategy, which we will announce when we feel the time is right," he said.

Faizal also reiterated the PN's confidence in winning the Kuala Kubu Bharu state seat.

"We believe that with another assemblyman from PN, the voices of the people of Kuala Kubu Baharu will be heard loud and clear in the Selangor State Assembly.

"We are confident that we can still address all the issues for the people of Kuala Kubu Baharu," he said.

The Election Commission (EC) fixed May 11 for the by-election following Lee Kee Hiong's death on March 21.

The state seat would be contested by Pang, Khairul Azhari, Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) and Nyau Ke Xin, who is contesting as an independent.
