Mara to pump RM35mil to fund, train and empower women

KUALA LUMPUR: Mara will provide a special funding and training to aid and empower women entrepreneurs, said Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.

Speaking at the Wanita delegates’ meeting here today, Ismail, who is an Umno Supreme Council member, announced that Mara would provide a special business funding of RM30 million and RM5 million for entrepreneurial training.

“We also know that to be a successful entrepreneur, one needs training. Therefore, Mara will allocate RM5 million for this purpose.

“Also, 30 per cent of new Mara business premises will be allocated to businesswomen.”

His announcement received a standing ovation from the 900-strong delegates at the Tun Hussein Onn hall.

“I will discuss with Kak Jat (further) on how we can help women entrepreneurs,” he added, referring to Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
