KUALA LUMPUR: MIC President Datuk Seri S Subramaniam has welcomed Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Razak's speech at the Umno General Assembly today on the Pas' Private Member's Bill.
Speaking to reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre, Dr Subramaniam said a discussion among the Barisan Nasional leadership on the bill will be held soon.
"His (Najib) speech today was about (the bill), that there will be no dualism in this country and that the constitution will be upheld," he said.
"This is the issue that we have been talking about, so this is the discussion that we will be having later on.
"This will probably be the basis of the discussion, that the sovereignty of the constitution, the assurance our legal system at such and present will continue to prevail and how within that framework we will continue our discussion."
In his speech today, Najib said that he will continue to review the bill, to ensure there will be no dualism in the system and punishment.
