'Umno president made unilateral decision; I won't appeal' says sacked Isham

KUALA LUMPUR: Recently sacked Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil said that he would not appeal the party's decision.

Isham, who had received an official letter of dismissal from the party earlier today said the appeal would be useless.

"No use for me to appeal against the decision as it was made by Umno's president without going through the disciplinary board."

Moving forward, Isham said that he will continue his efforts towards the unification of Malays in the country.

When asked whether he would join other political parties after his dismissal from Umno, he said it is too early to think about it.

"It's too early to contemplate that question (to join other political parties).

"I've set the objective, which is to unite the Malays in this country and I will figure out how to achieve that objective and goal," he told the New Straits Times.

Earlier, Isham had confirmed that he had received an official letter from Umno of his dismissal.

The letter, which was signed by Umno's secretary-general, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki was given to Isham via Whatsapp late last night.

In the letter addressed to Isham, the Umno Supreme Council had decided in its meeting on Dec 6 that he will be dismissed from the party effective immediately.

The dismissal is effective immediately under Clause 10.6 together with Clause 5.9 of the Umno Constitution due to his actions that have violated Umno Members' Code ofEthics under Clause 20.9 (a), (b), (c), (d), (f) of the Umno Constitution together with Articles 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.1.4, 3.1.6 of Members' Code of Ethics.

Yesterday, party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the official letter would be issued soon.

Zahid's response came after Isham's statement of being in the dark over his 'supposed' sacking as he did not receive any official document from the party.

On Dec 6, following the Umno Supreme Council meeting, sources who had attended it, who requested anonymity, said Isham was sacked with immediate effect.

Umno leaders, when met after the meeting was concluded, however kept mum on the matter.

No official statement has been issued by Umno regarding Isham's sacking at that time.

Isham has been vocal towards the party on many occasions, particularly on its cooperation with DAP.

On Dec 5, Isham in a video posted on his Facebook page said the loss of Umno-Barisan Nasional in the Kemaman by-election was due to some Umno members who were lackeys of DAP.
