KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno has never betrayed the party leadership and will work hard to ensure that the party secures a bigger win in the next general election.
Negri Sembilan Wanita Umno chief Datuk Norhayati Omar said the party's history shows that the leaders of the movement have never turned against the party or its leadership, rather, it was some of the more fickle low-level supporters.
"Women are simple. Once they have fallen in love or like someone, the feelings will remain to the end," she said when seconding a motion to support the president's policy speech at the Umno general assembly today.
Norhayati said the movement's members have pledged their undivided support to party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
"We will continue to help our leader solve the people's problems, which have become more complex nowadays," said Norhayati, who is also Kuala Pilah Wanita Umno chief.
She said the movement will also intensify its efforts to garner support from voters in critical constituencies, apart from recruiting new members nationwide under its Jalinan Rakyat Bersepadu programme.
