IPOH: The number of flood victims at flood relief centres in two districts in Perak rose to 88 people as of 8am today, compared to 59 yesterday.
A spokesman for state Civil Defence Department said another eight families from Kampung Padang Serai were evacuated early today, making the number of flood evacuees in Manjung district to 50 people for today.
"They are currently seeking temporary evacuation center at Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat Kampung Padang Serai.
“The flood is due to incessant rain which started in the evening until late night on Friday. The water has yet to recede this morning," he added.
He said nine families involving 38 people from Kampung Pengkalan Ara in Perak Tengah district were still seeking temporary shelter at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Ara.
"Various agencies are monitoring the flood situation and the situation is under control for now." he said.
