HULU TERENGGANU: A 23-year-old man was feared drown at Sungai Tiam in Tasik Kenyir, today.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the victim, Amir Helmi Azmi from Kampung Mak Lagam, Kemaman was reported missing about 2.25pm.
He was swimming with his friends in the river before suddenly disappeared from view.
"His friends could not locate the victim and alerted the authority," he said.
Hulu Terengganu police responded by setting up a search and rescue team comprising of personnel from other related agencies to find the victim.
Adli said the team arrived at Tasik Kenyir about 15 minutes later.
As of 8pm, search for the victim continued.
