Perak BN all but certain of triumph in GE14

IPOH: Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) is all set to face the 14th General Election – and is confident of winning it.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said there are 59 seats in the state and BN needs to win more than 30 seats to ensure that it continues to reign in Perak.

"We have our own 'template' in handling and making preparations for the next general election.

"(In fact,) Perak has been awarded (the title of) best 'war room' in the northern region when it comes to preparing for the general election.

"As such, we are ready to share our 'templates' with other states and exchange our ideas in order to strengthen the party, as well as win the hearts of people in the country," he said today.

Zambry was speaking at a press conference following the handing over of school aid to 300 students in Perak under the Back to School Programme, which was organised by PLUS Malaysia Bhd.

Zambry, who is also Menteri Besar added that BN will be paying more attention to potentially winnable new seats, and areas they won during the 13th General Election.

"We are going to focus on more than 30 seats in the state. If possible, we want to win all the 59 seats, because in politics, nothing is impossible.

"Some might say that this is an impossible task. But there was a time when the Opposition (made big gains in) the state. I don't want this to happen twice, because when we talk about politics, there are ups and downs," he added.

In the 13th General Election, BN won 31 seats, DAP (18), PKR (5), Amanah (1) and PAS (4).

On a separate note, Zambry said Perak was mulling installing additional telecommunications towers along the North-South Expressway.

"I have discussed this matter with related agencies, and we will have additional telecommunications towers along the expressway in order to give better communication services to road users.

"As you know, many accidents occur along the expressway, and sometimes, the emergency calls do not get through due to poor coverage," he said, adding that the matter is still under discussion.
