ISKANDAR PUTERI: Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim today has rubbished claims that there is an oversupply of houses in Iskandar Malaysia.
"I have been following the development of Iskandar Malaysia and we are now half way into the 20-year plan since Nov 2006.
"With a population of 1.7 million that is expected to increase to three million in 2025, we need 666,000 houses, so it is not true that there is an oversupply of 410,000 houses," he said in a speech when launching the Fastrackcity circuit project a premier motorsport city that complements the Sepang Circuit.
Tunku Ismail, who is the chairman of Fastrackcity, said security, connectivity and work creation are the three areas to focus on to achieve the main goals in Iskandar Malaysia.
"We need to not only beef up security but also the perception of a safe city.
"Connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia whether it is by air, sea or rail.
"We also need to enhance skills in healthcare and training skills," he said.
"If we put energy into these three areas, we can reach our goal and target in 2025, but we have to stick to the plan," Tunku Ismail added.
