PETALING JAYA: After 12 years, bubbly TV host Sarimah Ibrahim returns to present the 31st Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL31) slated for Jan 22, next year.
The 38-year-old former radio announcer is delighted to have been given the honour to again host the annual song competition.
“TV3 approached me at the recently concluded Anugerah Skrin, and asked if I’d like to host AJL31. I immediately said yes as I greatly miss hosting this wonderful show that introduced me to many talented names in showbiz,” she said, when met at the AJL31 press conference held at Bentley Music Auditorium in Mutiara Damansara here today.
“I remember co-hosting the AJL back then with Datuk Aznil Nawawi who gave me a lot of tips to becoming an effective emcee.
“We also had a great time chatting backstage with the contestants, and it was during that time I also learnt how hard the artistes worked to give great presentations for their fans who cheered them all the way,” she said.
Joining Sarimah on stage will be Fara Fauzana, Fizi of Hot FM and Awal Ashaari.
AJL31 will be broadcast live on TV3 at 9pm from the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
While she has never teamed up with Fizi, Fara and Awal are Sarimah’s old pals who share her love for local music and reality shows.
“Fara and Awal are witty, sporting and knowledgeable. The three of us work well together, and we enjoy light-hearted banter laced with informative quips from the celebrities we interview,” she added.
On top of AJL31, Sarimah will also be hosting a new talk show on TV3 next year.
“The details of this show are still under wraps right now but it will be revealed closer to its launch date. All I can say is it that it will be funny, educational and entertaining. It’s a show everyone will enjoy,” she added.
