Wife of RTD officer killed at Setia Alam Toll Plaza pregnant with twins

MALACCA: About three weeks after the death of Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement officer Mohd Ridzuan Md Yusop, who was killed when he was struck by a trailer while on duty, his wife has discovered that she is expecting twins.

Siti Anida Lihat, 35, who has just found out that she is carrying twins after undergoing a check-up recently, said she is extremely saddened at not being able to share the good news with her husband.

She said her husband had wanted to have a baby boy badly, as they already have a daughter, Nur Dhamirah Izzati, who is now four years old.

"Every woman will be saddened when losing their husband, especially during pregnancy, but I have to be strong to continue with my life," she told reporters at her home in Cheng here today.

She was met after receiving a funeral benefit (FPM) cheque from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) which was presented by Melaka Socso director Fadhilah Hamil.

On Nov 23, Mohd Ridzuan, 34, was killed when he was struck by a trailer during an inspection of vehicles near the Setia Alam Toll Plaza in Selangor.

Fadhilah said Mohd Ridzuan’s heirs are entitled to receive the FPM, worth RM1,500, in addition to a monthly pension that would be given to his wife as well as to his children until they reach the age of 21, or graduate with a first degree.

"Although Mohd Ridzuan was a government servant, we found that he had worked with two private companies before, thus making him eligible to receive a minimum payment of survivor’s pension," Fadhilah said. -- BERNAMA
