Exhibition launched to commemorate Sultan of Selangor's 71st birthday

SHAH ALAM: A royal exhibition is currently being held to mark the 71st birthday of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah which falls on Dec 11 (Sunday).

Held at the concourse of the SACC Mall until Dec 18, the royal exhibition was launched by Sultan Sharafuddin's younger brother, Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah last night.

The aim of the 14-panel royal exhibition is to appreciate the important role Sultan Sharafuddin has played in his 15 years as the ninth Sultan of Selangor and as the leader of the people of the state.

It also serves to provide information to society, especially the younger generation, on Sultan Sharafuddin's journey in life, to know him better as well as to instill a love for the royal institution.

The royal exhibition, made up of a myriad of black and white as well as coloured photographs, is divided into various segments that tells the journey in the life of Sultan Sharafuddin.

The segments are titled The Birth of A Sultan, The Heir To The Throne, A Caring Man of The People, Selfless Service, A Man of Many Interests and Quest For Knowledge.

There are also panels on the Historiography of The Sultanate of Selangor as well as His Royal Highness The Raja Muda of Selangor.

The royal exhibition is organised by the Selangor state government through the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat) with the cooperation of the National News Agency of Malaysia (Bernama) and SACC Mall.

Also present at the launch was Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang as well as Selangor state exco for Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs and Heritage, Rural and Traditional Village Development Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.
