More than 3.8 million people in Klang Valley to face water shortage on Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 3.8 million people in the Klang Valley are set to be affected by a scheduled water disruption on Monday.

The service disruption will affect 814 areas including the Petaling district, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

National Water Services Commission chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Ridhuan Ismail said the disruption is due to maintenance works carried out by Tenaga Nasional Berhad to install a protective arc system at the main entrance of the Bukit Badong substation in Hulu Selangor.

“The disruption is expected to last for 16 hours, between 8am and midnight. It will affect operations at water treatment facilities that supply water to 60 percent of users in the Klang Valley,” he said in a statement today.

Ridhuan said water supply is expected to be restored in stages after the system maintenance work on the electricity supply has been completed and as soon as the water treatment plants are operational again.
