HULU TERENGGANU: A 26-year-old man was killed when his Perodua Viva rear-ended a Fuso lorry on the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) here today.
The victim has been identified as Mohd Hanafi Mohamad, 26, from Kampung Pengkalan Atap, Batu Rakit.
State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson Rozizah Abnihajar said the Kuala Berang station received a distressed call at 7.14am and deployed a team of rescuers to the scene.
She said both vehicles were heading towards Bukit Besi in Dungun when the incident occurred at Km380.6 of the LPT2.
"The victim, who was driving his white Perodua Viva, suddenly rammed the rear of the lorry heading in the same direction at around 7.10am," she added.
Rozizah said Mohd Hanafi was sent to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival," she said.
The lorry driver escaped unhurt.
