Quarter-litre riders test out MT-07

If you’re riding a 250cc bike, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor thinks you might want to move up to the MT-07.

The official franchise holder for CKD and CBU Yamaha motorcycles and ATVs in Malaysia recently organised a day-long MT-07 Moto Thrill Day to allow owners and riders of 250cc motorcycles, regardless of brand, to test ride and check out the popular 689cc naked bike.

Twenty-three riders turned up to give the MT-07 a try. There were no entry fees but places were limited and the registration was done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The riders test rode the MT-07 at the Speedway PLUS Circuit track, led by veteran rider, Kenny Lee.

The programme was delayed for half-an-hour as it was drizzling and the track was wet. After the rain stopped, everyone eagerly geared up and saddled on their respective MT-07s.

Later in the day, a convoy of some 50 MT-07 owners joined the test riders to show off their bikes and share their experience of owning and riding the MT-07.

The MT-07 is typically described as fun and friendly to ride. It has a liquid-cooled, twin cylinder 4-stroke engine and a powerful linear torque output.

The bike’s frame is slim and compact but the sleek lines on its body exhibits aggressiveness.

The lightweight chassis of the MT-07 makes for easy handling and maneuvering. Many test-riders found they could handle the track’s sharp corners rather comfortably and confidently.

“I might upgrade. The bike has a great handling and good performance,” said Yamaha R25 owner, Mohd Amirul Arif Yahaya Rosli.
