KUALA LUMPUR: Seven next-of-kin of those onboard missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 last month organised a self-funded trip to Madagascar and Mauritius.
The trip's mission was to spread awareness on the possibility that debris from the missing airliner had washed up along the coast of Madagascar and Mauritius.
An official statement posted on the 'Voice 370' Facebook page said the next-of-kin is requesting that local authorities, communities, tourism operators and religious community leaders spread the importance of looking out for the debris along their coast.
“They are also appealing for the authorities' cooperation in recording any finding which include the handling, reporting and handing over of the debris to the authorities,” said the statement.
The next-of-kin, were also engaged in a physical ground search at high probability sites, have identified a piece of potential debris which was recovered at Riake Beach in Madagascar.
“Two other pieces of debris were also recovered in response to the initiative,” said the group's spokeperson of the mission, which ended on Dec 16.
