MH370 next-of-kin put hope in possible restarting of search mission [NSTTV]

SUBANG: It has been 10 years since the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and the possible restarting of its search has brought a new sense of hope for their next-of-kin.

Intan Maizura Othaman, wife of crew member Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan, welcomed the minister's announcement in good faith.

Intan said this is a step to bring closure to families and the rest of the world and to discover the truth of the airline which have vanished en-route to Beijing along all 239 of passengers onboard in 2014.

She said it is important to understand what happened to MH370, not only for the families but also for aviation safety.

"It is not that we haven't moved on, but we need to know the truth.

"We are all required to know what happened because it is a matter of aviation safety as well.

"This gathering, having all the next-of-kin gathered together, is comforting because we understand what it is like to go through the tragedy," she said.

She said all the next-of-kin are united in their quest for answers and their determination to keep the memories of their loved ones alive.

"The anniversary is not a celebration but a way to keep the memories of our loved ones alive.

"I wish for the search to be continued but it's not because I or any of the family members haven't yet moved on.

"For myself, being a Muslim, of course, it is part of my faith to accept fate, but the disappearance of MH370 is a big tragedy that we cannot just brush off," added Intan.

The next-of-kin of MH370 passengers and crew members gathered today to organise the 10th Remembrance Event for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

Earlier today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that they are ready to invite Ocean Infinity to Malaysia to discuss the 'no cure, no fee' proposal to search for MH370.

He said the Malaysian government's position remained consistent and would commission a further search operation when new information and credible evidence were accepted.

He said he would make every effort to convince the Cabinet to sign a contract with Ocean Infinity to restart the search operations, following the discussion.

Meanwhile, V. P. R Nathan, husband of MH370 passenger Anne-Daisy said he is confident that the plane could be found.

"Of course it can be found. It's just a matter of time. There have been ships lost that are found after hundreds of years, so we cannot say that this plane will never be found.

"The only option is to have an active search based on whatever information that we get or whatever refinement that has been made with the existing information.

"The 'no find, no fee' option is a very good option for everybody and we family members are very encouraged that Ocean Infinity has stuck forward to make this offer," he said.

He commended Loke who has been supportive of the family members and their cause.

"I do understand the fact that the Malaysia government cannot spend unlimited amount of money doing the search, but the 'no cure or no find, no fee' option is a very good option because you only pay a permitted amount if the plane is found.

"I am very happy that the minister (Loke) is very encouraging," he said. His daughter, Grace Nathan, said she longed for her mother during the milestones she achieved over the decade, "particularly while pregnant with my two kids."

"I had difficult pregnancies. I have learned to appreciate her in so many different ways, especially when I look at my kids," said Grace.

She expressed gratitude for the support she has received.

"It has been a challenging journey, but I am grateful for the love and support of family and friends," she said.

Jiang Hui, the son of MH370 passenger Jiang Cuiyun put his hope on the restarting of the search mission.

He commended Loke for his commitment and his promise to keep in touch with the next-of-kin in China.
