When stars collide: Actor Sharnaaz Ahmad to wed Noor Nabila on March 31

KUALA LUMPUR: The wedding countdown has officially begun for actor Sharnaaz Basir Ahmad, who will be tying the knot with his sweetheart, Noor Nabila Mohd Noor, the elder sister of popular actress and TV host, Noor Neelofa.

At a small and intimate press conference held earlier today, the blushing bride and groom-to-be revealed details of their impending nuptials.

"The solemnisation ceremony will take place on March 31 at Nabila's residence, while the wedding reception (bride's side) will be on April 2 in Kuala Lumpur. Reception for the groom's side will be on April 16 in Penang," said the Suamiku Encik Sotong actor.

The big day may be a couple of months away, but the actor admits to having nerves about his forthcoming wedding.

"I've been having sleepless nights just thinking about it," he said while looking sheepishly at Nabila, by his side.

"On-screen, I've been married numerous times, but this time around, it's extra nerve-wracking, because I'm about to become a married man for real!", added the actor, who is set to start filming for a TV drama series titled Mister Hijab this month.

The actor couldn't help but gush over his lady love, who he's been dating since 2015, making it clear he is happy to have made the right choice in choosing a life partner.

"She's got a loveable personality and great charisma, which I admire. I'm looking forward to building a happy life together," said Sharnaaz.

"We fight like any other normal couple would, but what's important is knowing that she has my best interests (at heart) and that we'll always support each other no matter what," he said.

The groom will be presenting five wedding gifts, while the bride will return with seven wedding gifts. Both were tight-lipped when asked about the dowry amount, though.

When queried on why the couple chose the specific date, Nabila said there was no special reason behind it.

"We wanted to be married before the month of Ramadan (which falls in late May), so the both of us, including our parents, agreed that March 31 would be most suitable," she said.

"If we were to wed on April 1, I'm afraid many will perceive it as an April Fools’ joke," said the actor, laughing.

The couple, however, has not yet decided on their honeymoon destination.

"For now, we're looking at Switzerland, Italy or Santorini," said Nabila.

Well, congratulations to the happy couple!
