Dungun roadblock nets drug trafficker with 170 stimulant pills

DUNGUN: A 30-year-old man was detained while on his way to deliver drugs to a customer in Dungun on Wednesday.

The suspect, driving a Perodua Kancil, was stopped at a roadblock near Kampung Pulai Serai here at 12.45am.

District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said the suspect attempted, but failed, to escape the team, as he was surrounded on all sides.

Police conducted an inspection of the suspect and his car, and uncovered 170 stimulant pills.

The man was taken to the Dungun police station for further investigation.

"An initial probe revealed that the suspect was on his way to deliver the drugs to his customer," he said.

Zailani said the suspect is being investigated under Section 39(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.
