A dozen villagers still stuck at Perak flood relief centre

PADANG RENGAS: A total of 24 flood evacuees are still taking shelter at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Kampung Gapis here, as of 8.45 am this morning.

The number is down from the 31 recorded at 11pm yesterday, after a family of six returned to their home and 23-year-old Puteri Nur Fatin Najwa Samsari was sent to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital for asthma treatment by the Civil Defence personnel.

A representative from Welfare Department said two children went to school from the evacuation centre this morning.

A team of medical personnel from Klinik Kesihatan Padang Rengas arrived at 9am and was seen checking and assessing the evacuees at the relief centre.

Kampung Gapis was hit by a 2 hour-long heavy downpour at 2pm yesterday, which triggered flash flooding. The water rose to 1 metre-high in some areas.
