Federal police question ex-Bersih official over alleged OSF funds

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bersih 2.0 treasurer was today questioned by police over funds allegedly received from US billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundation (OSF).

Masjaliza Hamzah, 50, said she has chosen to remain silent when asked on the matter.

She said the list of questions given to her by police revolved around the non-governmental organisation and its accounts.

"All questions asked were related to Bersih, its accounts, etc. And also the links to George Soros and the OSF," she told reporters.

Masjaliza however said she reserved her right to remain silent and did not answer the questions posed.

She said that she was called in for the questioning under Section 124C of the Penal Code for attempting to commit an activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

Masjaliza arrived at the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman here at 3pm and spent about an hour there.

She was accompanied by her lawyer, Raul Lee Bhaskaran.

To date, more than 20 activists have been called up for questioning over the issues surrounding foreign fundings.
