KOTA BARU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed is like a chameleon when it comes to making statements aimed at winning the hearts of voters, Kelantan Umno information chief Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad said today.
He said it was typical of the former prime minister to change his stance and views as and when he feels like it.
"He's just like a chameleon, which changes colour according to the situation and surroundings. One minute, he is all full of criticism and the next minute, when he suddenly feels otherwise, he'll be singing praises on the thing that he had condemned.
"This is not the way a person of his level, age and credibility should behave.
"He's not senile for sure but it is unbecoming of a man of his status. BR1M is just the most recent 'about-turn' examples Dr Mahathir has made since he became PPBM's chairman," he said.
Md Alwi was commenting on Dr Mahathir's 'about-turn' made at Stadium Malawati on Saturday night about 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M).
Dr Mahathir, during the PPBM launch speech said that the opposition pact may continue rendering the financial aid to the people should it win in the 14th General Election. However, he added that the matter would be placed solely under the government’s purview.
