TN50: Youth reps happy to have their voices heard, impressed by PM's stance

KUALA LUMPUR: Youth representatives have expressed their satisfaction when the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak gave his assurance that their feedback and aspirations will be taken into consideration when drafting the 2050 National Transformation (TN50).

Saora Industries chief executive officer Ganesh Muren said the town hall session was good as there were sound suggestions concerning living standards and the need to address these pertinent issues.

“I am glad that they got the youths involved in the discussion. It is good that they got us involved (to discuss) the diverse topics under the TN50,” he said after the town hall session ended tonight.

Akram Yusof, 25, was intrigued about the topic of digital economy and he was surprised that it was the Prime Minister who posed that question to the youth.

“This shows that he cares about what we think and actually take into account our thoughts and ideas,” said Akram.

Selangor Youth parliamentarian Asyraf Adlan applauded the programme, describing it as a “good engagement” by the leaders in listening to the youths’ aspirations, adding that it was important to create an agenda based on views of the common folks.

“We can no longer use the traditional method where those in the higher ups determine the policies that will affect those in the grassroots,” he said.
